Two workers were killed and the other suffered serious injuries due to heavy rain and heavy rain collapse and strong winds in Kadanakoppa village in Kalaghatagi Taluk in the Dhawad region, officials said Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Misrikote, near Kadanakoppa village. Officials added that the deceased had been identified as Dawood Savanur, and the second victim had not been identified.
According to local authorities, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, causing concessions from the walls to bother workers working on the site. Residents and other workers from nearby arrived at the scene when they heard the collapse and tried to rescue the trapped ones. Emergency responders arrived shortly after being alerted along with local police and firefighters. The injured worker was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital where his condition remains crucial.
A senior district official confirmed an investigation is underway to determine whether safety regulations are followed. “We are conducting a thorough inquiry to assess whether the negligence has caused a tragedy. The necessary action will be taken based on the findings.” Local authorities assured the victim’s families of support.
“We express our condolences to the families of the deceased. Compensation and assistance will be provided in accordance with government norms,” ​​said Kalaghatagi Taluk official. The incident highlighted concerns about workers’ safety in adverse weather conditions.
