Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the “Indira Saura Giri Jala Vikasam” program on Monday (May 19, 2025) at Macharam in Amrabad Mandal, Nagarkurnool district and asked officials to provide solar pumps to all qualified farmers within one month.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, said it was a unique program designed to empower tribal farmers. He urged Mr. Vikramaka to appoint a special officer to oversee the smooth operation of the scheme.
Mr Reddy said the pilot project was on 45 acres in Macharam to create the interests of 45 tribes, and the land was allegedly taken away during the Bharat Rashtra Samisi regime and filed a case of protests. He advised officials to have women’s self-help teams build solar power plants for them so that they can earn income from it, too.
Under the Forest Rights Act, the government approved 669,000 acres of Patas, benefiting approximately 230,000 farmers in the state. The new plan aims to use solar-powered Balwell to provide irrigation facilities on 600,000 acres of tribal land without electricity connections.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that if slogans such as “Jar, Jungle, Zameen, Zameen, Bruit Kosam Poratam” must rule for the next 20 years. He said the new plan was born from the heart of the “dynamic chief minister” he described as “diamond.”
Nallamala Declaration
He spoke emotionally about generations of tribes who struggled and bleed in the forest without reaping any benefits. He said the Nallamala declaration, released by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday, will now benefit all tribal areas of the state. Later, the Chief Minister went to his home country, Kondared Dypalle, where he performed special Poojas at Anjaneya Swamy Temple.
