TGFDC is the first to receive FSC certification in India

Hyderabad: Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) has become the first public sector organization in India to ensure the certification of the Forest Management Council (FSC), gaining international recognition for its responsible forest management practices.

The certification covers 32,951.39 hectares of TGFDC plantations in Kagaznagar, Mulugu, Medak, Rangareddy, Kothagudem, Paloncha and Sathupalli areas. These plantations include eucalyptus, bamboo and Indian Blackberry trees, and now produce FSC certified logs, natural bamboo and jamun nuts that meet strict social, environmental and economic standards.

“With FSC certification, our products generate higher trust in the domestic and international markets,” a TGFDC spokesperson said. “This milestone reflects our commitment to sustainable forestry and rural livelihoods.”

Over the past three years, TGFDC has sold 427,922 tons of eucalyptus and 7.35 million hairy bamboo heads. Since reaching the FSC status, the company has increased its revenue by an additional Rs 4.49 crore and saved Rs 254 crore in operating costs compared to previous years.
