TGSPDCL has improved the following to meet summer demand

Hyderabad: Southern Disco Islands are expected to increase electricity demand by GHMC restricted during peak summer season. Compared to the peak of 4,352 MW on May 6, 2024, Discom expects demand to exceed 5,000 MW.
In some regions, demand for capital has increased by more than 30%. Cybercity Circle includes the Gachibowli, Ibrahimbagh and Kondapur departments, with demand rising 31.75% last year. Banjara Hills Circle increased by 22.62%, while Jeedimetla divisions at Medchal, Kukatpally and Medchal Circle increased by 20.24%.
TGSPDCL CMD Musharraf Ali Faruqui highlights the need for strict line clearance protocols and coordination between Transco and Discom engineers to ensure safety during maintenance operations. Preventive maintenance and timely repair priorities are prioritized to reduce interference during peak periods, he said. Advanced monitoring tools are real-time tracking of feeder load and performance, allowing faster response to downtime and better management of demand.
TGSPDCL follows the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to strengthen its infrastructure by upgrading the distribution network and installing other power transformers and distribution transformers.
New feeders have been commissioned on the 33/11 kV and LT levels. More than 5,000 feeders are now monitored through the feeder interrupt management system to improve supply quality and faster response. TGSPDCL has added 105 new 11 kV feeders, 12 new 33 kV feeders, 1 sub-station, 30 other power transformers in the existing substation and 506 new distribution transformers. In the GHMC area, 602 new 11 kV feeders, 70 new 33 kV feeders, 19 substations, 173 power transformers and 2,533 distribution transformers have been installed or upgraded.
Despite challenges such as strong winds, winds and heavy rains, TGSPDCL ensures a quick fix. In one such spell, 350 feeders were interrupted, but senior staff working at critical times quickly recovered.
Faruqui expressed confidence that with real-time monitoring, infrastructure upgrades and rapid recovery capabilities, TGSPDCL will provide quality, uninterrupted power supply during the high points of Hyderabad summer.
