The High Court finalizes the location of the new court, the building discussed at the conference

The role of the High Court in the discussions held in Tamil Nadu Parliament on Friday was the new trial court constitution in various places. Although AIADMK MLA claims the judiciary is a “parallel government”, the state government says it is the High Court that finalized the location of the new court.
N. Thalavai Sundaram of AIADMK equated the judiciary with a “parallel government” when referring to the state’s construction of new buildings for the courts, which ultimately determined the location of the new court and the buildings needed. He went on to claim that the judiciary has “embezzled” the state’s rights.
Law Minister S. Regupathy insists that the High Court Register estimates that the need for courts at various locations is required, and the Legal Department has only promoted the construction of this. As for Mr Sundaram’s allegations of “violation” of government rights, the minister said it was once the AIADMK regime. Mr Sundaram said that in other states, including Kerala and Maharashtra, this is not a “system”.
AIADMK legislators further urge the Tamil Nadu government to develop legislation on the Rajasthan Advocate Protection Act 2023, which aims to uphold advocates. Regarding Mr Sundaram’s concerns about the legal steps taken to reclaim Katchatheevu, Mr Regupathy stressed the need to unite to retrieve the islets from neighboring Sri Lanka.
When AIADMK legislators argued that there were no legal attorneys in the Supreme Court or the High Court to prevent the state government from conducting caste census, Mr. Regupathy reiterated the DMK government’s position that the coalition government should accept caste census.
As Mr. Sundaraman continued to push forward his need for a caste census for the state government, Mr. Regupathy insisted that the census was not a subject of the state. He also tried to know why the previous AIADMK regime did not conduct a caste census.
Not all law students become advocates: Minister
The minister previously said not all students who have completed their law degree regard themselves as supporters. But they base their degree on it and choose other majors. He said that around 175,000 times have been recruited from supporters of Tamil Nadu and Puducher, with about 9,000 attending each year.
The minister is responding to Mr. Sundaram’s inquiry about the actual enrollment of the state-run law school.
Mr. Sundaram tried to know whether all the total approved student strengths of 15,086 seats in the state Legislative Academy were filled. As for the argument that the minister believes there are 175,000 advocates enrolled, Mr Sundaram said that even among those enrolled, only about 65,000 were engaged in law as a profession.
