According to the report, he is the fifth person to resign from former acting commissioner Melanie Krause and accept the position before Danny Werfel’s last departure.
“The trust must be brought back to the IRS and I am totally convinced that Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender is the right person right now,” Bessent said.
