Florida State University Shooting: Who is the police’s son Phoenix? |World News

Florida Shooting: Two people were killed and six others were injured after an active shooter opened fire on the Florida State University (FSU) campus on Thursday. The injured victim and suspicious shooter were taken to a local hospital. Officials said the suspect was detained after being shot and killed by police, adding that he invoked the right to not talk to police.

Leon County Sheriff Walter McNeil said in a briefing that the alleged gunman was identified as Phoenix Ikner, 20. Police said the two people who died in the shooting were not students. The victim’s name has not been released.

Who is Phoenix Ikner?

Authorities identified the suspect in a recent college shooting, the son of 20-year-old student Phoenix Ikner and the long-time sheriff’s deputy. Officials confirmed that Ikner had previously participated in law enforcement training programs and was a member of the Sheriff’s Youth Advisory Board, which helped promote communication between youth and law enforcement.

According to Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil, Ikner is the son of Jessica Ikner, a respected member of the Sheriff’s Office for 18 years. According to official reports and records, the guns used in the attack were previously her service weapons. Sheriff McNeill pointed out that Ickner’s involvement in the department program meant that he had a chance to get a gun.

Ikner, listed as Christian Eriksen in an earlier record, experienced a turbulent growth experience, court documents show. His biological mother reportedly held dual Norwegian citizenship with him at the age of 10 and reportedly breached the custody agreement and brought him out of the country. Although she claimed they went to South Florida for spring break in March 2015, she went to Norway in violation of court orders. Later, she participated in a no-competition defense, demanding illegal evacuation of minors from the state and being sentenced to 200 days in prison, followed by two years under community control and another two years of probation.

Phoenix Ikner was registered as a Republican, Florida voter registration record shows.
