The body of an unidentified woman was found stuffed into a sack in a river in the Palgar district of Maharashtra on Tuesday, police said. A official said villagers reminded police in the morning about sacks floating in the Wag River in Ghatkarpada on Nashik-Mokhda-Jawhar Road.
He said the police team found the body of a woman in her 20s. The official said the body had been sent for a post-mortem, adding that the case under Section 103(1)(1) (murder) and Section 238 (causing the disappearance of evidence).
He said it appeared that the woman was strangled to death, her body was put in a sack and fell into the river. The official said an investigation has begun.
