Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Ombudsman has issued an order to remove the name of Mohammed Azharuddin from the Northern Pavilion stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The order was adopted by former acting chief justice V. Eswraiah, further noting that the ticket should not be printed on the name of the former Indian captain.
This issue dates back to 2019, when Azharuddin was the president of the HCA. At a meeting of the Supreme Council chaired by the 62-year-old man on November 25 that year, it was decided to name the North stall “Azharuddin Stand” and then be called the VVS Laxman Pavilion.
On February 28 this year, a city’s clothing cricket club (LCC) filed a complaint on February 28 this year, one of the 226 members of the HCA. It noted that Azaruddin had raised his position after violating the HCA’s memorandum of rules and regulations. It believes that under Rule 38, members of the Supreme Council cannot make any decision.
However, Azaruddin denied all allegations of conflict of interest and said he would file an order to challenge the HCA Ombudsman in the High Court.
“This is not any conflict of interest. I don’t want to comment, I don’t want to succumb to this level. The world of cricket will laugh at the association. 17 years of cricket, nearly a decade of captaining cricket and there is a difference. That’s how you play cricket against Hyderabad. Hindu.
On the other hand, LCC expressed satisfaction with the results. “This decision strengthens our commitment to transparency and integrity. We thank the authorities for their fair and impartial assessments,” said Somna Misra, the club’s treasurer.
