Karnataka HC issues DRI notice in Ranya Rao bail case

The Karnataka High Court ordered a notice to the Tax Intelligence Agency on Wednesday in response to a bail petition filed by actress Ranya Rao, who was charged in a multi-million-dollar smuggling case.
DRI must submit a statement of objection regarding the petition before the case, as directed by Judge Vishwajith Shetty.
The Sesions court refused to refuse bail Ranya on March 27, 2025. Prior to this, Benguluru, in particular the Court of Economic Crime, refused her bail on March 14, 2025.
Ranya Rao, designated as the first accused, was detained at around 6:30 pm on March 3, 2025, based on reliable intelligence that she was transporting smuggled gold. Subsequently, officials reportedly seized 14.2 kilograms of gold, worth Rs 126 crore on the date, using pancakes and tissues to hide around her waist and calf muscles.
