Two people were accused in court of tragedy in the temple of Jalaralar

Bhopal: A district court in Indore was acquitted in the tragedy of the Gilalalar Temple in 2023, and 36 devotees were killed after the roof collapsed.
The two were charged with the remains of Sevaram Gilani, chair of Temple Trust, and the remains of Murali Kumar, were acquitted by Indore’s Sessions Court for lack of evidence that they had put liability for their misfortune.
The tragedy took place on March 30, 2023, at the ancient shrine of Beleshwar Mahadev, commonly known as Jhulelal Temple, in Indore, India, when hundreds of devotees gathered there on the occasion of the Ram Navami Festival.
The floor (part of the well roof) collapsed, killing 36 people and injured, and many devotees performed Havan rituals inside the temple.
The roof of the temple well collapsed and could not bear the weight of the people gathered on it.
The temple trust chairman and secretary were scheduled to be in the incident and were later arrested.
However, they are now released on bail.
When the victim’s cement cover collapsed, the victim fell into a depth of 60 feet and took nearly three days to fish out the bodies of all 36 devotees of the deceased.
Some devotees died after being trapped in the swamps of the well.
During the investigation, police recorded statements from more than 150 witnesses.
The court said in its verdict that there was no evidence that the two defendants intentionally allowed the devotees to gather on the roof of the temple in an orderly manner on Ram Navami Day, although it felt like it could collapse.
