Citizen preparation safety drilling was conducted on Saturday at the Vo Chidambaranar port in Thoothukudi.
The purpose of the exercise is to demonstrate the steps to be taken in a potential attack by hostile forces on cargo ships. Thoothukudi regional collector K. Elambahavath presided over the simulation exercise.
The exercise shows attacks such as foreign troops or terrorists attacking port cargo ships. It details procedures for rescue crew members, evacuation and treatment of injuries and extinguishing fires on board.
Fire and Rescue Services Department, Central Industrial Security Force, Tamil Nadu Police Department, Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force, Family Guard, Bharat Scouts and Guidelines, and personnel from the National Junior Corps were participated.

Similarly, a safety drill was conducted at the Thoothukudi Thermal Power Plant under the leadership of Regional Tax Officer A. Ravichandran.
