Delhi’s yellow alert as Heatwave catches northern India to check the latest IMD predictions

According to IMD, the highest temperature yesterday was 44 degrees C in Candela in Sarashtra and Kuchi areas. Nearly 21 cities in five states recorded temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alarm on Monday for the national capital, predicting the rise in temperature and heatwave conditions over the next two days. Today, Gujarat issued a red alarm, while an orange alarm was issued from April 8 to 10. The Solashtra and Kuchi areas face severe heatwave conditions.

According to IMD, the highest temperature yesterday was 44 degrees Celcius in Candela in Saurashtra and Kutch. Nearly 21 cities in five states recorded temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.

“Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on 07th; Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab during 07th-10th; Delhi on 07th & 08th; West Uttar Pradesh during 07th-09th; Madhya Pradesh during 08th-10th April Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over coastal areas of Gujarat State and Konkan & Goa during 07th-7th,” according to IMD.

IMD predicts further heatwave conditions in 21 cities across Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha. Other states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, may also witness the hot heat. Rajasthan’s Barmer heat sets a new record. Yesterday, the highest temperature was 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in the first week of April. The departure is 6.8 degrees higher than normal.

An orange alarm was issued to Rajasthan from 7 to 8 April, while a yellow alarm was issued from 9 to 10 April. Today, heatwave conditions are expected in isolated areas of Himaal Pradesh. Haryana and Chandigarh may see similar conditions until the 10th of this month.
