The Christian community observed Palm Sunday with a deep religious enthusiasm to commemorate the victory of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, an event also known as Kuruthola Perunnal.
The occasion marked the beginning of Holy Week, which allowed believers to spend the holy journey of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and finally celebrate the joyful celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. The name of Palm Sunday comes from the crowd waving palm branches to commemorate the time when Christ entered the Holy City.
Special services and prayers were held in churches throughout the area. At the Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral in Thrissur, the stately Palm Sunday Service begins on a specially prepared stage at Nirmala Matha School Ground. The chief host is Mar Andrews Thazhath, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Thrissur (Syro-Malabar). The cathedral priest joined him. Jose Vallooran and Fr. Hendrin Neelankavil as a common core.
Faithful faithful palm trees, holding the blessed palm trees, re-formatted the procession of the royal welcomes Christ from the ground to the cathedral. The parade was followed by a celebration of the Eucharist. The Archbishop invoked the blessings of all in his actions, praying that faithful people may grow up kindly and deepen their interactions with the Lord.
