The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water and Sewage Treatment Commission (HMWS&SB), from its managing director to senior officials to local border patrons, took action quickly on Tuesday to identify consumers who resort to illegally drawing water using electric motors.

As part of Tuesday’s campaign, the board and its alert team grabbed 64 motors and punished 84 consumers for securing the motors to household pipes to pump more water under high pressure. Up to 25 motors were seized, and consumers were punished in the SR Nagar department.

Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy is part of the Kakatiya Hills inspection in Madhapur, where the team occupied the car. “Illegal use of motors to pump water at high pressure is a crime. While some are using these motors, others have low voltage and supplies. Consumers are punished and caught the motor first, but if the case is repeated, the case will be registered.”

Mr Reddy also added that anyone who suspects illegal use of his colonies can report the matter by calling 155313 to resolve the issue instantly.
