Wheel Cash: Railways successfully test India’s first airborne ATM on this route

In the country’s first country, the ATM installed inside the train successfully completed a trial on Tuesday. The machine is set up in the air conditioning coach at Panchavati Express between Nashik and Manmad in Mumbai, allowing passengers to withdraw cash while the train is running.

According to Indian railway officials, the trial went smoothly, except for the short-term network loss between Igatpuri and Kasara. This extension is known for poorer signals due to limited tunneling and mobile coverage.

Railway, banks cooperate on onboard ATMs

ATM was introduced under the Innovative and Non-Financial Income Thought Plan (INFRIS) and is a partnership between the railway and the Bhusavar branch of the Bank of Maharashtra.
“It turned out to be very good,” said Ti Pandy, manager of the Busaval Division Railway. “People will now be able to withdraw cash on mobile trains. We will continue to monitor the performance of the machine,” he said.

Pandey added: “The idea of boarding the ATM on the ATM first at an INS INSTRIS meeting organized by the Bhusawal department. We immediately discussed the way the proposal was proposed.”

All coaches and passengers can reach

The ATM is installed in AC coaches, but can be contacted by passengers on the train, as all 22 coaches in Panchavati Express are connected via the vestibular. Passenger transporter Sanjay Jha said: “It’s a great move for the railway. People can withdraw funds, order books and receive statements. It will be very helpful.”

ATM is used for multiple routes

As the train shares the rake with Panchavati Express, the ATM will also be used by passengers in Mumbai-Hingoli Janshatabdi Express. This expands the visits of travelers on the longer route to Mumbai-Welinri.

Railway officials said the service could expand to more trains if it is popular. For security, the ATM is equipped with a shutter system and is monitored through 24/7 CCTV monitoring.
