The Delhi court ordered a FIR against Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra and others on Tuesday (1 April 2025) to investigate his alleged role in the 2020 Delhi riot.
Other Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia discovered a “main surface” cognizable crime that needed to be investigated.

“It is obvious that Mishra was in the area when she was suspected of committing a crime … further investigation is needed,” the judge said.
The judge is hearing a debate on the defense brought by Yamuna Vihar resident Mohammad Ilyas, requesting registration of the FIR, which was opposed by Delhi police, claiming that Mr Mishra has no role in the riot.
